    I have never met a gallerist who understands painting, who could at least analyze a work of art. They are always usually merchants, who sometimes employ a person who has a degree in art history and knows everything about ancient Greece and Mesopotamia, but absolutely nothing about the art of the XXI century. You are a very nice lady, you look like another lady who acts in adult movies.

    Cadnium red has yellow in it you have to use cool red

    • @MicheleTheberge
      @MicheleTheberge 29 днів тому

      I’m curious what you mean by cadmium red having yellow in it? Cadmium red is a single pigment color. There are no other pigments in it. In the Monsell color system, it is in the R (red) column, not RO (red orange) nor RP (red purple.) meaning it has neither a warm nor a cool bias.

    Excellent video! Thank you. Do I understand that we need to make sure to let it dry between glazing layers?

    • @MicheleTheberge
      @MicheleTheberge 29 днів тому

      Yes, correct. If you don’t let the glaze layer dry completely sometimes when you brush over, you can lift the layer of paint and medium below and create a bumpy texture.

    I was a teenager when I gave up art. Now in my 60's I am playing around with art that is creative without being representative. I can draw a person or an animal or even a tree. But I can draw doodles. That is what I am doing now and it makes me happy. Thank you for the positive affirmations.

    This is a similar message to what I try and tell people anywhere, anyway I can. I had an art teacher in elementary school that gave me Fs when I was in 5th grade. It was a mandatory art class that I participated in, but he didn't like the work I turned in. Then, I went to an arts middle school and had to audition to get in to various disciplines. I wanted to audition for more than the 2 I would have pick and chose art as an option. The audition was to draw a still life without looking at it. The teacher came by while I was erasing and told me that if I wasn't looking then I couldn't be erasing. I'd never done any drawing like that before and was very uncomfortable with it (I'd probably still be uncomfortable now, with the not looking and the still life lol). I didn't get into art after that audition. And I thought...well, I must not be an artist, I guess all I can really do is craft. I didn't pick up a pencil or paintbrush or any other medium to create my own visual art until I was in my 30s and it has become such a source of joy and provides so much therapeutic relief that I urge anyone to create. The point doesn't have to be production. The point can be the journey. The point can be the healing!

      Thank you for sharing this powerful story! I discovered when I read Julia Cameron’s “the artist way” many years ago that so many of us have these stories in our past in which we felt wounded by comments of others around us such that we turned away from our creative practice. I am so heartened to hear of your triumph and re-engagement with your creative self.😍💗👏

    • @MicheleTheberge
      @MicheleTheberge 29 днів тому

      I am sorry Betty. I’m not familiar with that brand, but I do have a video on how to test acrylic mediums to help better determine their quality. In my opinion, I’m looking for a paint that lasts well in the container, that stays in suspension meaning it doesn’t separate the pigment from the binder one that is flexible and heavily pigmented.

    Love this book. I, too, read it in the 90's and followed every step to the end. It helped me "become" the artist that I was. The Morning Pages tied in with a Journal I was already keeping, and still keep to this day. What a wonderful gift from Julia Cameron! For my artist dates, I like to take myself out to breakfast or lunch and then go on a hike or to the botanical garden. Nature plays a key role in my work so being in gardens, among plants, among wildlife, is vital.
